Reps Urge FG to Allocate Significant Funds for Arabic Village in 2025 Budget
The House of Representatives has called on the Federal Government to allocate substantial funding in the 2025 Appropriation Bill for the development of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village’s permanent site in Maiduguri, Borno State. This resolution followed a motion presented during Thursday’s plenary, sponsored by APC lawmaker Abubakar Fulata, regarding the devastating floods in Maiduguri and surrounding areas. The floods caused significant damage to the Arabic Language Village, destroying infrastructure and educational materials. Fulata highlighted the center’s ongoing challenges, exacerbated by the Boko Haram insurgency, and warned that without proper funding, the village would struggle to continue operations, particularly affecting students. The House has directed relevant government ministries and agencies to include the necessary funding in the 2025 budget, maintain the temporary site, and provide immediate resources to restore academic activities.
