The House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs has expressed concerns over the allocation of N286 million for Nigeria’s 109 foreign missions, calling it inadequate and not based on a proper needs assessment. The committee also criticized the Federal Government’s envelop budgeting system, which they say is not legally recognized. Meanwhile, lawmakers charged the Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Muktar, to leverage his ministry’s new status to tackle the ongoing farmers/herders conflicts in the country. Committee members, including Senator Simon Lalong and Senator Abdul Ningi, emphasized the importance of promoting ranching to reduce clashes and boosting the livestock sector’s contribution to the economy. Additionally, the Minister presented a budget of N10 billion for capital projects and N1.8 billion for overheads aimed at improving animal husbandry infrastructure across Nigeria.
