Rector bags Peaceful Coexistence Award from Oko community

The first female Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Engr. Dr Mrs. Francisca Unoma Nwafulugo has been presented with a Peaceful Coexistence Award by the Oko Youth Association (OYA).

President of the Association, Mr Ebuka Ezindu flanked by Mr. Chima Nwafor, Emelie Okafor and other stakeholders presented the Award recently during a courtesy visit to the the Rector’s office at the polytechnic, Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Presenting the award to the Amazon popularly called ‘Nne Obioma’ – Mother with a good heart by her own community women “Inyom Ojoto” in Idemili South LGA, the Youth leader said it would be unfair for the host community not to officially show gratitude or recognize the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed between Oko indigenous community and the polytechnic community during her tenure as the rector.

According to Ezindu, we the members of Oko Youths Association as major stakeholders in Oko community has observed the present administration and have recognized that the kind of cordiality and benefits we enjoyed from the Rector is nearly unprecedented in recent times”.

“We did not experience such cordial relationship in the past administration. The outgoing rector is a mother and a model indeed. She has listening ears. She ensured that every young indigene of Oko community that meets the admission requirements was not denied admission. She also made sure that our youths seeking employment in the polytechnic got the employment any time government gave waiver. Infact,there was peace and no crisis between students and the community members during her tenure,” said
Ezindu.

The delegation who came to present the award to the rector also pointed out the visible infrastructural development ongoing in the polytechnic community which include about 17 completed buildings compromising of male and female hostels, administrative and departmental blocks. Some of these projects done by the distinguished Rector were sponsored by Tetfund, others by Capital fund and Internally Generated Revenue.

The Federal Polytechnic Oko Community congratulates the Rector for attaining more heights and for her numerous achievements within and outside the citadel of learning.
