The candidate said his co-contestants, Nicolas Ukachukwu of APGA, Ifeanyi Ubah of YPP, Chris Uba of PDP and his elder brother, Andy Uba of APC had disappointed the people by their behavioural tendencies, hence his reason to throw his hat in the ring to redeem and rescue the people of Anambra South.

Peter spoke at the flag-off of his senatorial campaign at Ihiala in Ihiala local government area of Anambra state and expressed regrets that the masses die of hunger while politicians live in affluence.

The campaign flag-off was attended by multitude of constituents from the seven local government areas of Anambra south senatorial district which comprised Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and South and Orumba North and south local government areas.

He, however, urged voters to jettison the money bag politicians who he said introduced vote buying in Nigeria ’s electoral process. He said they should rather embrace honesty and integrity as a hall mark of good leadership which he claimed, his candidature represents.

“The era has arrived when our people must vote according to their conscience and no longer according to how much a politician has provided in exchange for their rights and democracy dividends, mortgaging their future and that of their children by collecting money before voting.

“It is time to vote according to the credibility and merit of politicians and not according to his party. I am in the race because your plight is equally mine. Just get your PVC and be ready to vote out unscrupulous elements and hijackers of our democracy dividends. I am in the race because God wants me to be an instrument of redemption, liberation an freedom.

“Sharing money to electorates for securing their votes is a sign of deception, fraud, incompetence, lackadaisical attitude and insincerity that will keep our society in stagnation. We cannot claim to be the giant of Africa while over 90 per cent our people continue to live in abject poverty. This is the time to have a rethink and say no to their peanut and vote for good services which I represent” he said.

Speaking, the national secretary of the party, Comrade Babatunde Ali, noted with regret that electioneering in Nigeria has become so expensive that only the super-rich can truly contest election and win while the people are poor.

He urged the electorate not to sell their votes but vote people that can represent them, assuring that PRP would change the mantra of only the rich contesting elections in Nigeria .

“Balarabe Musa, who is former Kaduna state governor under PRP ended up becoming poorer after becoming a governor of a state. He is the poorest former governor in Nigeria . In his house, as we speak, there is no security man there and his roof leaks. He didn’t steal any money; he is corrupt-free. This country needs leaders like him not the kind of senators that sleep in the red chamber.

The state chairman of the party, Mathias Aninwachukwu and national vice chairman (South east), Joachim Anyanwu, in their separate speeches, expressed confidence in the candidature of Eziokwubundu and called on the INEC and security agencies to do the needful during the election and save Nigeria ’s democracy.
