Afia TV Correspondent Elijah Akuma and cameraman with the station were reportedly arrested by security officials at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) on Friday during a follow-up visit connected to the Afia Morning Show.

According to information shared, the incident happened shortly after Elijah Akuma visited Alvan Ikoku Hostel in the university to follow up on issues involving Nnamdi Daniel, a blind student of the university who spoke with the journalist about the terrible condition of the male hostel.

Reports stated that officials of the university security unit detained the journalist and the cameraman after accusing them of “sneaking in” to the university premises.
It was also alleged that before the arrest, Dr. Adibe Agbo, the director of housing and accommodation had accused Elijah Akuma of trespassing during a phone conversation, while the journalist was trying to gain access to Nnamdi Daniel earlier in the day.
