Praying for free, fair 2019 elections in Enugu

MAURICE OKAFOR writes that the main bowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium Enugu was filled to the brim on Saturday, December 1, a replica of what is usually obtainable during political conventions of the major political parties.

But it was purely a religious gathering for spiritual healing and seeking of God’s divine grace.

The coming of Bishop Dr Chris  Kwakpovwe, the publisher of the Holy Bible reading guide known as ‘Daily Manna’ for the first time to Enugu with his ministry and the strategic free mobilization of people from all the 17 local governments of the state by a socio-religious and cultural pressure group in Enugu state known as the ‘Crusaders’ established in the state by Chief Gbazueagu Nweke Gbazueagu, a frontline politician in Nigeria who also have great passion in worshiping and serving God through his philanthropy.

Chief Gbazueagu said the essence of luring the The Daily Manna publisher Bishop Dr Kwakpovre to the one day anointing service for Enugu state to preach on the theme ‘’This Red Sea must dry up’’ was to give a spiritual battle to the challenges and temptations usually encountered by the people of the South East zone at this period and season of Christmas.

Gbazueagu stated, ‘’The Season we found ourselves, the Christmas season in this part of the country is a season of joy and season of temptation. Equally, we are approaching a political season,, the anointing service by Bishop Dr Chris Kwakpovre will  enhance peaceful elections in Enugu state’

‘’The Red Sea posed a challenge to the Israelites but absolute faith in God they received their miracle. He said the way every person encounters one problem in life but with faith in God, the problems would be resolved. Enugu state desires prayers to achieve peaceful elections in 2019 General elections’’.

Chief Gbazueagu and the ‘Crusaders’ gingered anointing service conducted by Bishop Kwakpovre came at a time the ruling party in Enugu state, PDP observed a one week period of fasting and prayers for peaceful 2019 General elections in Enugu state, from Saturday December 1 to Friday December 7.

The Chairman of Enugu state PDP campaign organization, Barr Charles Egumgbe, the PDP led government in the state by God’s grace will continue to provide an enabling  peaceful environment for security of lives and properties of the people and business to thrive in the state.

Coincidentally on same Saturday December 1 , Senator Ayogu Eze, the APC Governorship candidate unveiled his blue print of developing Enugu state if elected as Governor of the state, at his campaign office located at Chime avenue Enugu.

He promised to develop the tourism potentials of the state and to extend the city metropolis outside Enugu township.

His words: ‘’ Our economic blue print will seek foreign direct investments against the back drop of a benevolent tax regime that will grant holidays and moratorium to early bird investors”
