Catholic Archdiocese Of Onitsha Holds Communication Week

It was a spectacular event when Catholic Archdiocese Of Onitsha held her 2023 Communication Week in a grand style.

The event which attracted the presence of Catholic and non Catholic lay faithful was held at Trinity College Hall, Basilica of The Most Holy Trinity, Onitsha Anambra State.

Presenting his speech at the event, the  Managing Director, Anambra State Information Communication Technology Agency ( ICT), Mr. Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata disclosed that the state would soon establish Data Base of all the citizens living in Anambra State.

Mr. Agbata who is one of the resource persons during the event equally said that what State government is planning to achieve through the ICT included; making sure that both young and old would understand the use of information technology.

He also revealed that the usage of WIFI would be free sooner within the public domain, adding that ability to communicate effectively is imperative in our daily lives.

Similarly, Reverend Canon Sunday Fumilayo in his speech said that technology has democratized educational system, even as he stated that technology gives us opportunity to create communities, belongs to a group such as; WhatsApp, Facebook, Tweeter, Instagram amongst other.

The technical adviser to Anambra State Managing Director on ( ICT) Agency and one the resource persons hinted that those platforms assist in showing interested idea, interact with others.

” Technology has created positive and negative impact on the society. Technology has made everything easy for us and to  mentor our young boys and girls. It offers us the ability to attend workshops, Seminars, Meetings, Conferences through virtual means.

As we embrace  use of technology in our communication system, we must continuously balance issues while making use of technology” Said Fumilayo.

Some of the participants who spoke during the event which included; Evangelist Onyeka Obiezue and Mrs. Chinwe Ezerioha explained that communication gap  has destroyed some families. 

 They maintained that communication could flow between two persons when there is mutual mind, Just as they pointed out that communication could as well be achieved when there  is love between two persons.

In his appreciation speech, the Director of Communication, Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha, Rev. Fr. George Admike commended the resource persons for impacted knowledge and information to the participants.

The cleric however urged the participants to always aveil themselves to Seminars in other to update their knowledge on (ICT), cautioning them not to form the harbit of going to internet to obtain information.

He said some information in the internet could be false and misleading. Highpoints of the event were questions and answers session.
