Police bursts cult camp in Anambra, arrests 19 suspects

The Anambra police operatives from the Special Anti-cult unit and Operation Puff Adder, on sunday, stormed Ukulu forest in Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state and intercepted an initiation process of Aye confraternity.

The Anambra police spokesman, SP Haruna Mohammed said that the exhibits recovered from them were four knives, empty shell of expended cartridge regalia of Ayes secret cult, drum and charms of different categories.

He added that later same day in the wee hours of the morning, another initiation ground of the same cult group was stormed in Mbaukwu, Awka North LGA and four cult suspects were arrested. One dagger, one axe, charms and substance suspected to be cannabis sativa were recovered from them.

The police spokesman said that the 19 cult suspects all confessed to being members of Aye confraternity.

In a similar vein, a cultist, 24 year old Anene Chekwube notorious for burgling and stealing was arrested at Mbaukwu and some motorcycle spare parts recovered from him.

Mohammed revealed that the suspect confessed he burgled a shop at Ezinifite – Osumenyi  axis in Nnewi South LGA on the same date at about 06:45am and stole some items.

He also disclosed that other 12 suspected cultists were arrested at various locations in the state who confessed to being members of Supreme Vikings Confraternity, adding that all the arrested suspects would soon be charged to court for prosecution.
