Police arrest man for allegedly robbing online vendors

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 44-year old man, Olumide Agboola, who allegedly specialised in robbing online vendors in Lagos.

The Spokesperson for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest
in a statement on Monday in Lagos.

Hundeyin said that the suspect, notorious for robbing online vendors, was arrested by police operatives attached to Makinde Division.

“He was arrested following a painstaking investigation, launched after a number of reports were received about his activities.

“Different CCTV footages at his various crime scenes have aided in the irrefutable identification of the suspect.

“In his last operation, the suspect dispossessed his victim of her Infinix Hot 9 mobile phone, and assorted fabrics, underpants and singlets she came to sell, all valued at N193,000.”

He said that the suspect’s method of robbing his victims was to disguise as buyer, lure them to hotel and rob them of their goods.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect’s modus operandi was to pose as a genuine buyer on social media platforms.

“He orders items and requests vendors to supply the items at designated hotels, where he would then rob them.”

According to him, investigation is on going to recover other stolen items from his previous operations. (NAN)
