Peter Odili,Patience Jonathan And Others Attends A Burial In Port Harcourt.

According to reports, following the burial of Late Mrs Sarah Ihunda Opara, the mother of the Former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Austin Opara, which was laid to rest yesterday being Friday 6th November 2020, at her home town in Port Harcourt Rivers, it was reported that several dignitaries and well meaning stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, graced the occasion.

The report stated that the Late Mrs Sarah Ihunda Opara (Nee Oparaodu), was aged 96 years. She was said to passed away after a brief illness in Port Harcourt on Tuesday 28th April 2020. The interment took place at her compound, after a brief funeral church service at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt Rivers State.

The funeral service was witnessed by respectable dignitaries and well meaning stakeholders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), both from Rivers State and other States. The Executive Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, and his wife Justice Suzzette Nyesom Wike were present. The Honourable Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, the Former First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame Patience Johnathan, were also present.

The Governor of Katsina State, His Excellency Governor Alhaji Bello Masari, the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Governor Duoye Diri, and the National Party Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Uche Prince Secondus, were all present in attendance. Other dignitaries include the two Former Governors of Rivers State, Dr Peter Otunaya Odili and Sir Celestine Ngozichim Omehia, the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Governor James Ibori, and the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Governor Emeka Ihedioha, respectively were present at the occasion.

Some Former and Present National Assembly Members, the Speaker Rivers State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi Owaji Ibani, some other former and present Rivers State House of Assembly Members, Judges, Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, King (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas Jaja JP, Jeki V, Treaty King, the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Opobo Kingdom, and some of his Council Members, were all in attendance.

The Chief mourner of the burial, Hon Austin Opara, while given a speech about his Late mother at the church funeral service, recalled and told the story of how his mother lost her first child, who fell from the hands of a nurse who was cleaning him up shortly after she delivered for the first time after 13 years of marriage.

Hon Austin further described his mother, who he said was derided by mockers saying the bride price paid for her, would have been productive if it was expanded in buying a female goat, as a woman of faith who believed in God, and was never disappointed, later gave birth to five children who are all alive till date.
