Electricity Poles

‎Residents and business owners in Nkpor, Anambra State, are facing significant challenges due to persistent power outages, which have disrupted economic activities and exacerbated living conditions.

The unpredictable electricity supply has become a daily concern, compelling households and small-scale enterprises to rely on costly alternative energy sources, including petrol and diesel generators.

‎The situation has had a profound impact on businesses, with traders in Nkpor market reporting diminished profit margins resulting from increased expenditure on fuel. Local vendors of soft drinks and other beverages, hairdressers, welders, cold-room operators, and cybercafés are struggling to cope with the burden of alternative energy costs, allocating a substantial portion of their income to fuel and maintenance, thereby contributing to the escalation of goods and services prices.

‎The power crisis is further exacerbating the rising cost of living in Nkpor, as businesses transfer the burden of high operating costs to consumers.
