Breaking: INEC Postpones 2019 elections

Odogwu Blog earlier reported a long meeting with the INEC Commissioners at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja.

There has been speculations about the postponement of the 2019 General Elections which the Chairman of INEC repeatedly denied any plans of planned postponement.

But at exactly around 2:45am on Friday, 15th February, 2019, the INEC Chairman after a long meeting finally announced the postponement of the 2019 General Elections.

The new dates are as follows:

  • Presidential and National Assembly Elections —- Saturday, 23rd of February, 2019
  • Governorship, State House of Assembly and Federal Capital Territory Area Council Elections —– Saturday, 9th March, 2019

Professor Mahmood Yakubu also told journalists that the postponement was not feasible due to setbacks in the logistics and operational plans.
