Pensioners Demand Implementation of N32,000 Pension Increase

Retirees have urged the Federal Government to enforce the N32,000 pension increment as stipulated in the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act, 2024. They emphasized the need for improved payments to cover essential expenses amid rising economic hardship. The Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUPCPS) called for the settlement of outstanding arrears, noting that pensioners have yet to benefit from past wage increases. Many retirees also lamented losing access to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and accused Pension Fund Administrators (PFAs) of bias in handling payments. The pensioners stressed the urgency of government intervention, citing struggles with rent, school fees, and medical care.
