Pastor killed trying to separate fighting couple in Imo

A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recognized as Thompson Onyekuru, met his premature demise at the weekend whilst making an attempt to separate a lady from the fierce grip of her husband.

It was gathered that the couple, residing in Umuokoto city in Umudibia Autonomous Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, used to be engaged in bitter arguments, which resulted in the man using a knife to stab his wife.

The man, recognized as Obum, who hailed from Obowo in Imo State, was suspected to be mentally unstable. He had locked his spouse and her child in their room where he stabbed her severely.

According to an eyewitness, the incident commenced round four pm when Obum’s wife, Ogechi, and her one-year-old son had been heard screaming for help. However, Onyekuru and others had waded in to stop Obum from killing his wife.

After efficaciously rescuing the girl from her husband’s grip, our correspondent gathered that Obum grew to become enraged and started out chasing every person with the blood-stained knife.

But as Onyekuru made to go, Obum used the knife to stab him at the back. A passing police patrol group used to be known as to the scene, however he attacked the policemen who have been trying to arrest him.

The police then shot him in the leg in order to subdue him. Both couple and Onyekuru have been because of this taken to the health facility the place the three of them died.

While the pastor died right away after attaining the hospital, Obum and his spouse died later. The President-General of Umuokoto Community Council (UCC), Hon. Charles Anozie, verified the incident.

He stated Obum and the pastor had been taken to the medical institution the place they later died. The Police Public Relations Officer in the kingdom command, CSP Mike Abatam, was once now not accessible for comments.
