Pastor, his gang arrested for alleged terrorism in Anambra

A well-known man in the Eziowelle community in Idemili North L.G.A. Anambra State, who professes to be a pastor and his criminal gang have been arrested.

The six suspects who were said to be members of a notorious criminal gang terrorizing the community and environs for a long period were apprehended following an intelligence gathering on their deadly activities in the area.

Confirming the report, Anambra State Police Command Image Maker, Tochukwu Ikenga said: “Yes they were apprehended and several weapons including English Pump Action Rifles and various other dangerous weapons were recovered.

“The suspects were apprehended following reports about their criminal activities in the area which the state Police  Commissioner, Echeng Echeng received”.

National Light gathered the activities of this group which allegedly made some prominent persons from the area to run away from the community started long ago. The gang were said to be using illegal vigilant group to kidnap, rob, intimidate and harass members of the community.

It was further gathered that the gang severally broke into houses of prominent citizens, robbing and sexually assaulting female members of the community while others were allegedly kidnapped for ransom.

“The leader of the gang is a prominent member in the area who is said to be a pastor,  also controlling his own gang that has been indulging in criminal activities in Eziowelle for a long time with the support of some community leaders.

“These prominent men claimed to have contacts with security agencies both within and outside Anambra State”.

Our sources claimed that their activities have made many indigenes to flee the area for fear of being kidnapped.

“There are reports that some victims have been kidnapped and taken to the offices of some security agencies where they were made to pay huge amounts before release”.
