Former Real Madrid and Manchester United attacker, Michael Owen, has supported Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s judgment to omit Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea’s squad against Liverpool on Sunday.

Tuchel left Lukaku out of Chelsea’s match-day squad in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The German gaffer made the decision after Lukaku recently gave an interview during which he criticized his coach and expressed his frustration with his situation at the club.

Lukaku also disclosed that he would like to return to Inter Milan in the near future.

Reacting to the development, Owen in a tweet via his Twitter handle, said no player is more important than the club.

Owen tweeted: ‘If reports are accurate, it’s a huge decision from Tuchel to leave Lukaku out of today’s @ChelseaFC squad. But in the long term interests of the club, it’s a good one.

“No player is more important than the club and while being employed by someone, you can’t speak out like he has.”
