Over 85,000 Anambra Residents Enrolled Into State Health Insurance Scheme

The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi says over eighty five thousand Ndi Anambra have been so far enrolled into the scheme.

He made this known during the enrollment of fifty one men and women from Igbakwu, Ayamelum Local Government Area whose one year insurance premiums were paid by MUNA Foundation.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Dr. Onyemaechi who thanked the Foundation for achieving the feat, noted that the State Insurance Scheme remains one of the indelible legacies Governor Willie Obiano will leave behind at the expiration of his tenure.

Dr. Onyemaechi who is the Special Adviser to Governor Obiano on Health, maintained that the state government is aggressively renovating various health centres at the hard to reach areas to make them functional to attend to ASHIA beneficiaries, even as he called on other affluent individuals in Anambra state to make use of the adoption model introduced by the agency to give their people affordable and efficient health care system.

The traditional ruler of Igbakwu, Igwe Onuorah Nwuneli who facilitated the exercise, said that it is part of an effort to give his people whom he described as poor, opportunity to access adequate, affordable and accessible health services with ease.

One of the beneficiaries of the exercise, Chief James Uyammadu who is an emeritus President General of the Community, described the gesture as commendable and prayed God to bless their traditional ruler and MUNA Foundation for remembering them at this critical time.
