ONYEMELUKWE MOURNS THE PASSING OF REV. CHIKE IKEOTUNYE NWIZU

HE LIVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST…

Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe has described the late Very Rev. Chike Ikeotunye Nwizu, Provost Emeritus, Cathedral Church of the Good Shepherd, Anglican Diocese of Enugu, as a dedicated servant of God who lived life to the fullest.

Onyemelukwe made the remarks during the funeral service, interment and other ceremonies held in memory of the late patriach at his country home in Nnewi.

According to his biography, the late Rev. Nwizu, in addition to his role as a clergyman, lawyer and businessman, was also an Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (AMNIM); Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators of London; Member, Nigeria Bar Association, Knight of the Order of the Good Shepherd (KGS); Past President and District Governor, Rotary International; Past President, Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture; and National Life Vice President, National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.

Rev. Nwizu officiated at the wedding ceremony of Prof. Okey and Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe in 1994. He also baptised their first two children. Rev. Nwizu passed on to glory on the 31st of March, 2021 at the age of 87 surrounded by family and loved ones. Onyemelukwe prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul.

Most Rev. Dr. E. O. Chukwuma (OON), Archbishop & Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Enugu; Most Rev. Prof. G. I. N. Okpala, Bishop Emeritus, Anglican Diocese of Nnewi, other Bishops and clergymen attended the funeral service.

Dr. Nkem Okeke, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, HRH Igwe K. O. N. Orizu, Igwe of Nnewi; Sir Chris Atuegwu, and other dignitaries were also in attendance.

Lady Chidi Onyemelukwe attended the event in the company of her husband, Dr. Okey Onyemelukwe and some members of her LCO #TeamTrinity Campaign Organisation.
