Onitsha North Boss Tackles Drainage Desilting As Soludo Launches Operation Clean, Green Sustainable Anambra

In his efforts to buttress operation Clean and Green Sustainable Anambra, the transition Council Chairman (TC)  of Onitsha North LG A, Anambra State, Mr. Onochie Ozoma  and his lieutenants have commenced drainage desilting after Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has launched the campaign in Onitsha.

Recalled that Prof. Soludo during the launching of Clean and Green Sustainable Anambra which held at Ochanja round about, Onitsha enjoined traders to embrace government initiative towards ensuring sustainable cleanliness and drainage desilting, even as he directed all the local government Chairmen across 21 local government in the State to join while individuals are expected to follow.

Onochie who was available at  Oguta Road, a flash point where Onitsha North LG held the exercise was busy directing excavator and tippers which were evacuating wastes.

Speaking to newsmen during the exercise, Onochie said, ” As you can see, we are following the directives of our Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo. He loves to work and we have learnt it from him and we are following his foot steps.

The Chairman described Prof. Soludo as indefatigable Governor noted that the launching of drainage desilting and operation keep your gutters clean was a historic event in Onitsha and  awareness to residents which he said welcomed the campaign for them to stop blocking drainages with wastes and throwing away wastes materials indiscriminately.

” We will be cleaning the gutters regularly and all the flash point would be make way for easy flow of flooding. After we will serve notice to all the people who are operating businesses around the area. They will be our watch dog against those who block gutters with refuse  other wise we hold them responsible. They will give us information on those who are blocking the drainages”  Said the Chairman.

He further revealed that various enforcement agencies are available to monitor defaulters and anybody caught blocking the drainages with refuse should be arrested and persecuted respectively, just as he said that residents should pay for sanitation levy but that should be after they must have evaluated all the drainages and wastes.
