Onitsha Market Tourney: Tablet Line Defeats Young Shall Grow Line To Lift Trophy

Tablet line has lifted the trophy of the Onitsha Drug (Ogbogwu), Bridgehead market football tournament at the just concluded market soccer on 26 March, at Godwin Achebe stadium, Onitsha, Anambra State.

It was gathered that Tablet line defeated Young Shall Grow line in a penalty shoot out after a one, one draw during the full time and extra time allowed even as triplet line emerged third position.

Reacting to the victory, the Organizing secretary,, Chidi Mbah, commended the two sides for coming out top out of about 26 lines that were involved in the tournament.

He commended the market chairman, Mr Chukwuleta Ndubuisi and his caretaker committee members for making the competition possible adding that it makes traders in the market to be united.

Earlier, the President General, PG, Anambra State Amalgamated Traders’ Association, ASMATA, Chief Humphrey Anuna, commended the traders for turning up in their large number to witness the competition and lauded the market leadership for organizing the competition

He reminded the traders of the need to be united and keep the youths busy through competitions of such nature in line with Governor Charles Soludo’s aim of fishing out the talented youths and bringing them to limelight.

While speaking, the market chairman, Mr Chukwuleta Ndubuisi commended the winner of the trophy, Tablet line, saying that he is also the line chairman of Tablet line that won the trophy He added further that as a father to all the traders in the market, that he was happy that the competition was aimed at being united and exercising the body.

He commended Governor Soludo and ASMATA PG for the peace that has been restored in markets in the state adding that traders have resolved to vote the governor for second tenure because of his achievements in the state.

“His achievements will speak for him come the 2025 gubernatorial election. God makes a king, people than now bear witness to what he has achieved in two years. By the time he finishes the next two years the state will be best in Nigeria,” he affirmed.

The vice chairman of the market, Hon. Nwokedi Chi uzor, said that the competition was aimed at uniting the traders in the market adding that the market chairman did very well which prompted the large crowded that came to witness the competition.

“It is because of the market chairman that you have this large crowd because they support his leadership. I also commend Governor Soludo for the peace he restored in the markets through ASMATA leadership.

Contributing, the chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Onitsha South Local Government Area, Chief Uche-Chris Umennakaenyi, expressed satisfaction with the tournament adding that it brought unity amongst the traders.

He lauded the state governor for his efforts in making the state to be better than he met it pointing out that Soludo remains the best governor since inception of the state.
