AFCON 2021: Eguavoen detects Super Eagles’ crucial problem after Guinea-Bissau game

Nigeria interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen has detected the Super Eagles’ major danger after their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2-0 win over Guinea-Bissau on Wednesday.

Eguavoen watched as Nigeria defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in their final Group D fixture at the 2021 AFCON on Wednesday night.

The 56-year-old left Taiwo Awoniyi, Samuel Chukwueze, and Joe Aribo entirely out of the match and only introduced Moses Simon from the bench.

Two goals from Umar Sadiq and William Troost-Ekong gave Super Eagles the victory against Guinea-Bissau.

But Eguavoen is still not impressed with the Super Eagles’ attack, especially in finishing off created opportunities against an opponent.

“We always create chances,” Eguavoen told ESPN.

“The problem is finishing them off. That is what we have to keep working on as we go further.”

The win over Guinea-Bissau means Nigeria became the only team at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon to have won all their three group stage matches.

Eguavoen’s men will then face the third-placed team in Group E or F in the round of 16 on Sunday.
