Ogbu Improvement Union Holds Convention…Honours Idemili LG Boss with Commendation Service Award

The Ogbu Improvement Union (OIU) has honoured the Chairman of Idemili North LGA, Hon Stanley Nkwoka, with a Commendation Service Award. This took place at OIU’s Community Convention held at the Headquarters of Ilo Udu, Ogbu Abatete, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

The Mayor of Idemili North LGA was among other dignitaries that attended the event which took place on Saturday 14 June.

Nkwoka, who came with his team of political appointees, bagged the Commendation Service Award.

The convention also had the likes of Ichie Ideke III, Obi of Ogbu; High Chief Ezezularu E.E. Enyokwa; H.C. Arthur Obi Okafor, SAN; titled men; members of OIU NEC and convention delegates, in attendance.

Speaking at the gathering, the Idemili North Chairman appreciated them for the warm reception given to him and his entourage, describing his attendance as a home coming. He stated that he had always considered Ogbu first before every other consideration.

He promised to start the perimeter fencing of the headquarters which had been very porous for many years now, even as he proposed a meeting with the New Ogbu Road Project Committee to enable them to reach a compromise and discuss modalities and percentage.

‘I want the Committee to come. Let’s sit down and talk. It is true that the Ogbu Community has started the road. The asphalting of the road will begin soon. The road will no longer end at the place Ogbu Improvement Union OIU wants it to end. I will extend it to Abanna.

‘From the Most Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, to Abanna. I will see to its completion. Contractors will soon be mobilized to the site. The road leading to my house will equally be constructed. I have directed all those who have any property along that road to uproot or remove them.

‘I have always considered and placed Ogbu first and above other considerations. Come to my office, and you’ll see over five appointees all from Ogbu, Abatete. I will continue to empower our people and contribute immensely towards the development of this community. I will ensure that Ogbu boasts of newly and neatly constructed roads. It will happen soonest. The perimeter fencing will commence shortly,’ he assured.

Speaking, the National Chairman, Ogbu Improvement Union (OIU), Chief Ugonwafor Chidi Omaliko, welcomed the Mayor on behalf of Ogbu indigenes, assuring him of their continued support and prayers.

Presentation of Commendation Service Award to the Mayor of Idemili North was the highlight of the event.
