1. Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Dethroned

The Kano State government-led by Abdullahi Ganduje on Monday, March 9, dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.

Odogwublog reports Emir Sanusi’s dethronement followed the State Council executive meeting presided over by the Governor Ganduje.

2. IPPIS: ASUU Begins 2 Weeks National Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has kick-started a two-weeks national warning strike with effect from Monday, 9th March.

According to the National President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, who announced this at end of the National Executive Council meeting (NEC), the strike action was to compel federal government to implement the agreements and resolutions of Memorandum of Action discussed in the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and the 2017 Memorandum of Action (MoU), all of which have not been implemented.

3. Why Emir Sanusi Was Dethroned – Governor Ganduje

The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, was dethroned because he refused to attend meetings and respect the law, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje‘s led Kano State government has said.

Crown Prince, Aminu Ado Bayero has been declared the new Emir of Kano Emirate. The Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje approved the appointment of His Highness Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano, after the nomination of 3 prospective candidates by the Kano Emirate Kingmakers.

Aminu Bayero is replacing Muhammadu Sanusi II who was dethroned earlier today by the Kano state government.

6. Second Case Of Coronavirus Confirmed In Nigeria

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, has confirmed a second case of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.

7. FG Challenges SERAP To Provide List Of Ex-Governors Collecting Life Pension

The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) to furnish it with the list of ex-governors drawing life pension from their states.

The government, in a statement through the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) noted that the list will help it to comply with the 2019 judgment of Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo, pronouncing life pension for ex-governors as immoral.

8. Okonjo-Iweala Breaks Silence After Her Appointment As Economic Adviser To President Ramaphosa Of South Africa

Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and ex-World Bank Director, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has reacted to comments about her appointment as a member of the South African Economic Advisory Council, EAC.
