Odoakpu Community Emerges Champion At The Just ConcludedASATU Sports Competition …Smiles Home With #1M , N200.000 For Winning On Table Tennis

In their bid to make it significant for themselves in the history of ASATU Youth, Onitsha South Local Government Area, the Odoakpu Community has emerged the champion in the just concluded Anambra State Association of Town Union, ASATU, sport activities in the area.
Odoakpu also won on table tennis while Fegge Housing Community won on draft and went home with the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Naira, (N200.000) respectively.
Speaking after the event at Metu Memorial Secondary School, Odoakpu, Onitsha South Local Government Area, the Mayor of ASATU Youth Wing in the area, Comrade Dunu Chiadikobi who is also the SA to the Mayor of Onitsha South LG on political matters, in his remark, disclosed that the next years will be a rotational one, that each community would play their homes.
He noted that as he has united the youths of Onitsha South LG, they would as well give their full support to Governor Soludo and their support is a continuity to other governors that would emerge after Governor Soludo.
In his vote of thanks, Dunu appreciated the youth leaders of the four communities in Onitsha South LG for supporting his idea when he seek for their support and commended them for ensuring that all the finances released for the event was judiciously used.
He further thanked the Commissioner for Special Duties, Hon.Mrs Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu, the Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government, Hon.Chief Emeka Orji, for his advice and the Deputy Mayor, Hon.Onyebuchi Obi for their support.
In his speech, Chief Orji extolled Dunu’s courage for organizing such event both the preparation and arrangements. He stated that it would be an annual community event with his total support.
Orji also stated that the next years’competition would not only involve the soccer but with football, draft, table tennis and there will be an addition of volley ball and basket ball with other sportive activities. He pledged to construct a court for the event at Silas works road Fegge Onitsha.
Hon.Obi in his remarks, appreciated Dunu for organizing such event, noting that through the event the youths of Onitsha South LG would be united. He pledged his support whenever he is called upon.
Earlier, Beverly Nkemdiche in her words extolled the organisers of the event. She stated that a thing like this has not happened in Onitsha south, that there used to be competition but it was used to be within the community itself.
She pledged to support whenever she is called on, adding that her next year’s contribution will be more than she did this year
The Chairman of Onitsha South LG Stakeholders, Chief Linus Ezenkwu, (Nkwubuego) pledged to be part of the sponsors in the next years event, adding that it is going to be a wonderful event.
Present at the event was Onitsha South LG APGA Chairman, Chief Uche Umeh, the President General Fegge Landlord Association, Chief Okwudili Obinwune, Chief Silvester Okafor, SIWO Network, the councillors and supervisors of Onitsha South LG
We would recall that the sports competition started on October 13th to November 3rd and was organized by Dunu to ensure togetherness among the youths in the area.
