OCHA Brigade Nabs Over 7 Suspected Illegal Revenue Collectors In Anambra

Men of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra has apprehended over seven persons for involvement in illegal Internal Generated Revenue collection in Onitsha Metropolis.

According to the Commander, Ocha Brigade, Anambra North Senatorial Zone Mr. Hillary Udeano, Governor Willie Obiano directed his team to hunt and arrest illegal IGR taskforce disrupting business activities
in Onitsha.

The exercise kicked off at Upper Iweka axis and Ochanja round about.

Mr. Udeano said the unpleasant complaints from traders especially those from outside the state has become unbearing and a concern to the state government.

According to him, these illegal IGR taskforce targets tricycle and people with luggage and compel them to pay for their luggage, claiming to be indigenes and must have a part in every business transaction that goes on in Onitsha.

Narrating the ordeal of a woman who filed complain with head injury she got from the unidentified group, Mr. Udeano said his team is out to sanitize Onitsha and will not relent until normalcy is restored.

Mr. Udeano assured traders who come to Onitsha that men of OCHA Brigade will hunt and apprehend the hoodlums for as long as it takes to clear them off the streets and road, adding that the state government is committed to creating safe and conducive environment for business transactions within the state.

One of the culprits Mr. Eric Nwankwo said he is a carpenter and was on his way to bank before he was apprehended while Mr. Ebuka Emmanuel said he was on his way to buy drugs before he was also apprehended.

The seven persons apprehended denied involvement in the illegal IGR collection in Onitsha.
