…Gives 21 day ultimatum to Ogun government

A human rights organization, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has reinstated the call to Ogun State Government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun to declare the traditional seat of Onihunbo of
Ihunbo stool vacant over what it perceived as illegal and untraditional imposition of a known smuggler, bunkerer and Land-grabber,one Mr. Joseph Olamide Adesiyan as monarch of the ancient town.

The group also gave the State government 21 day ultimatum to the State government to declare the stool vacant by setting up an Independent Panel of Inquiry to investigate the hanky-panky surrounding illegal and acclaimed purported installation of Mr. Olamide Adesiyan as Onihunbo without following the order of rotation as stipulated in the
1956/1957 Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration, maintaining that the
ultimatum commences  from Monday 15th of March,2021 and after the end of the ultimatum, the group would take all the democratic means of redressing the illegality.

It described  Mr. Adesiyan as fake monarch, who should stop parading
himself as monarch in and outside the State for wanton of due process
as contained in the order of rotation in 1956/1957 Ihunbo Chieftaincy declaration and Court Affidavit of Princess Victoria
Adenike Fagbohun(nee Kilanko Adeyemi) dated 27th day of February,2018.

It would be recalled that the ancient town of Ihunbo in Ipokia Local Government area of the State has been engulfed in Obaship and
Community crisis since Friday 17th of March,2017 at about 7.29pm when Adesiyan, Mr. Fatai Isiaka and Mr. Babajide Titus ( aka- Oppressor) led  46 Armed thugs with the supervision of men of  Nigeria Police Force (NPF) coordinated by one ACP Samuel Titus and 21 men of 192 Battalion of Nigeria Army base in Owode-Yewa,to burn down the
Onihunbo’s palace on the support of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s elder brother, Alhaji Abidoye Amosun popularly called “Alhaji Agba”.

They embarked on  illegal and brutal journey on the Chieftaincy matter then as part of their qefforts to impose Adesiyan as Onihunbo through backdoor, forgetting that power was transient in this life and
believing that they have the backing of the then Governor Ibikunle Amosun who has immunity to do anything as they wanted then.

It added that immediately they burnt down the Onihunbo’s palace, they turned Adesiyan’s private residence to the palace where they claimed to make him(Adesiyan) illegal monarch of the ancient town and this was
against the norms and customs of Yoruba traditional institution.

It alleged that the perpetrators of the evil and dastard act against
the innocent citizens of the Ihunbo Community have been striving hard to pervert the cause of justice on the matter since all this while, particularly, during Ibikunle Amosun administration.

CHRSJ insisted that Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration should  set up Independent Panel of Inquiry which would comprise of members of International human rights organization like Amnesty International and others; in order to unravel the truth surrounding the whole scenario in respect of Obaship tussle in Ihunbo.

It was against this background that the human rights body put up a
signed Petition Letter dated 14th of December,2020 by the CHRSJ’s
Executive Chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and copies were also made available to newsmen on Thursday.

The letter forwarded to the Executive Governor of the State,Prince Dapo Abiodun, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The letter read thus; “In view of this, it is giving us the authourity

“Conversely,it is rather unfortunate and surprise that the matter was
later metamorphosing into the different criminal nature like physical attacked, peculiar assault, common assault, attempted murder and killing of innocent souls in Ihunbo town and its environs with other fusillade of threats alleged to have been fired at the authentic
indigenes of the town by those leaders of hoodlums including;Mr.
Olamide Adesiyan.

“In view of the foul play surrounding the issue,we observed that their whole actions abinitio premised on frivolity, illegality, callousness and unmitigated barbarism as evidences presented in this Petition
Letter”.

It submitted that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing
Justice and truth and “fiat justitiae ruat column” means let justice
be done even if heaven will fall.

It therefore, urged the State Governor and other authorities concerned to use their good offices to expedite necessary action in a jiffy to address the issues raised by treating all the necessary documents attached to the protest letter with utmost priority.
