Oba Regent task community stakeholders on security/vigilance, celebrates New Yam

The Regent of Oba in Idemili South, Prince Noel Ezenwa (Ezeamaalu Oba) has tasked all stakeholders from the nine villages of Oba Community to be vigilant and security conscious.

Prince Ezenwa made the call during his New Yam festival at his palace saying that the urbanization and rapid influx of non indigenes in the community has called for security concerns.

According to Ezenwa if there is no security of lives and property you can neither engage in any meaningful business, agriculture nor any kind of celebration including new yam festival.

“Oba has nine villages every leader should take up responsibility. Issues should not be left for the central vigilante. Let us be conscious of activities within our locality and report promptly any useful information.

“With the rapid development our community is experiencing, the law enforcement agencies cannot work in isolation. Let us be our brothers keeper as we work for “Odimma Oba”-good and progress of Oba,”said Ezenwa.

Earlier while performing the ‘ikpo onunu’ which include cutting, feeding the ancestors, and eating the new yam, Ezenwa thanked God for blessing mankind with mystery of food crops to sustain life.

“Cultivation is rejuvenation of life. Something is put inside the soil, it dies and is born again.Yam is part of ‘Ife di n’Oba’ the palm wine and raffia palm is only used to digest the yarn”, Ezenwa noted.

Meanwhile, Chief Okwuduba Anyaorah, Ijele Oba thanked for a good harvest and festival saying that new yam is a prestigious tradional festival that unites all Igbo people for conviviality and appreciation to God.

Also, Chief Basil Okeke, Ichie Oshimili III of Oba prayed that God will endow the Regent with more wisdom as he strives to improve security in the community saying that all the chiefs were solidly behind him

The Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) President General, Rev Chris Emelie, Chief Felix Uzor, Ichie Enyi II of Oba, Chief Samuel Odinammadu, Ikeora Oba, All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA BOT member, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka were all in attendance.
