Clergymen task Oba women to pray, raise godly children

Former Anglican Bishop of Nike Diocese, Rt Rev. Prof Evans Ibeagha and the President General, Oba Patriotic Union (OPU), Rev. Chris Emelie have tasked Oba women to be prayerful and deligient in raising Godly children.

Both clergymen were special guests of honour during the occasion of OPU Women wing general August meeting which held at Oba Civic center, Idemili South, Anambra State.

In a homily, Prof Evans Ibeagha stressed on the importance of prayers but maintained that God was only obligated to respond to the prayers of a righteous person.

“The situation of the country and the miriad of socio economic challenges facing human beings requires divine intervention which can be a accessed through fervent prayers.

“It is unfortunate that a lot of people who are praying at various gatherings are living in unrighteousness and hypocrisy. That is why there are no answers nor much desirable change.

“Also, Oba Community is in a critical period of selecting the next traditional ruler. I have been praying and urge Oba women to pray until God choses for us the EzeOkpoko II.

“I do not believe in politicking in things like this. Forget about the hullabaloos going on. As we pray God will not let us end up in kingship crises as experienced by some of our neighbors,” said Prof. Ibeagha.

The retired prelate further called on the women to pray for a successful gubernatorial election asking God to help Ndi Anambra elect a visionary and effective leader come November 6, 2021.

Moreover, the Oba PG, Rev Emelie advised the women never to slack in their primary parental responsibility of raising Godly children which would not cause menace to the soceity but become nation builders.

“The holy book says,”A wise child makes the father glad but a foolish causes sorrow to the mother. Women who focus on career or wealth creation at the expense of child training still bears the brunt.

Rev Emelie noted that most youths involved in restiveness, cultism and other vices was as a result of lack of proper parental upbringing especially by the mothers who ought to be closer to their children.

Meanwhile, the Community Women Leader, Dame Janet Okeke after thanking the guests for their timely advice announced that all the Oba women will observe a solemn assembly next Monday for a successful EzeOkpoko II selection.

“We have mapped out a day all women regardless of your denomination will stay indoor together to fast and pray that God will give us a humble and God fearing traditional ruler without crisis,”said Okeke.

However, Mrs. Okeke said that the acheivements of the OPU women wing included building a multi purpose/skill acquisition center, a primary school, purchased six plots of land and was about completing a secondary school.

Other highlights of the meeting include branch reports, cutting of cake, project fund raising and announcements of scholarship opportunities.
