The Regent of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa, his cabinet members and others have continued to pour tributes as the remains of Late Mrs Uche Iyiegbu was laid to rest at Oba community, Idemili South.

They also called on Oba people to leave good legacies just as Late Chief and Mrs Alex Iyiegbu did for their children saying that Iyiegbu’s children had made history.

Late Mrs Iyiegbu popularly called ‘Ezinne Odoziaku Akaeze’ was the wife of a former Igwe’s cabinet member and mother of a billionaire business man cum entertainer, Chief Obi Iyiegbu, the Chairman of Cubana Group.

According to the Regent, Obi Cubana came from a very humble background. His parents were teachers and community leaders who did their best to give them basic education and love.

“Other youths should believe that one can start from nothing to become somebody in life with education, love and determination.Iyiegbu’s family is a symbol of love and a shinny light.

“The deceased was the wife to the first palace Secretary to my late father Igwe Peter Ezenwa, Eze Okpoko 1 of Oba. I wish that the children will continue to live in love among themselves and for Oba community.

“This family has made Oba proud most passengers that boarded any aeroplane or private jet that landed in Owerri, Asaba or Enugu today are headed for Oba. Let others emulate them”, said Ezenwa.

Moreover, Chief Barr. Felix Uzor PhD, Ichie Enyi II of Oba described Late Mrs Iyiegbu and Husband as patriotic Oba people who lived their lives selflessly suffering to ensure the development and unity of Oba community.

“In the history of Oba there has never been a burial ceremony like this.The children are reaping the good seeds of their parents. Sacrifice pays, let everyone contribute his or her own quota towards empowering Oba people and development of our community”, said Uzor.

Also, Chief Samuel Odinammadu, Ikeora Oba prayed that God should give Obi Cubana and his siblings the fortitude to bear their loss urging them to learn from the legacies their mother left for them.

“Testimonies abound that Mama led a good life and has gone . Let her death bring more progress,love and unity in the family.Thank God she gave birth to Odogwu Cubana who has attracted a lot of people to Oba community,” said Odinammadu.

Another cabinet member, Chief Okwuduba Anyaorah, Ijele Oba commended the unity and humility exhibited among the three sons of Ma Iyiegbu who allowed the youngest Obi Cubana to speak at the church due to his connection .

Anyaorah who prayed that every child should achieve more than the parents advised Obi and his brothers never to allow their wives or outsiders come in between them wishing them longevity.

“Late Akaeze Oba was a popular French Teacher who later became the Principal of Merchants of Light School,Oba while Late Ezinne Odoziaku Akaeze’ was a Head Mistress who were lived examplary lives as educationists and role models in the society”, said Anyaorah.

All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA BOT member, Ogilisi Igbo, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka assured that late Ma Iyiegbu transit to the great beyond was into a good place.

“The children of Odoziaku Akeze should rejoice that their mother has gone to heaven because of the good life she lived while on this physical earth, things will now become easier for them if they continue to remember their mother and follow her footsteps”, said Ezeonwuka.

In his remarks, Chief Ekene Ebuzoeme, Ebubedike Ikenga Oba eulogized the virtues of Late Ma Iyiegbu saying that he knew the late couples as disciplinarians who impacted on both the lives of their children and that of others.

“Mama left many good legacies, the children should not mourn as unbelievers who have no hope.Let them continue in those good footsteps which include discipline and hard work”, said Ebuzoeme.

Chief Obi Ufondu also commended Obi Cubana for making Oba people proud saying that he was present to commiserate with the Iyiegbu family, his maternal cousins who were burying their mother.

“Oba is celebrating today a rare Amazon who touched many lives positively. May Oba never lack anything good and good people.It shall be well for Oba people”, said Ufondu.

Earlier in a homily, Archbishop Prof. Evans Ibeagha stressed on the need for good companionship narrating the exploits of Late Mrs Iyiegbu and his wife(Prof Mrs. Ibeagha) when they were piloting the affairs of the women at St. Pauls Anglican Church,Oba. Bishop on the Niger, Rt Rev. Dr Owen Nwokolo blessed Iyiegbu’s children for their numerous contribution to humanity.

However, the funeral which shut down the whole Oba community was graced with the la creme of the Nigerian soceity, elites, politicians, celebreties, clergymen, traditional rulers, billionaire businessmen accross South East and South South of Nigeria.
