NUJ National Election: I will serve you as a servant leader, Says Dele Atunbi.

The National Presidential aspirant of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Comrade Dele Atunbi has said that he will serve as a servant leader if elected in forthcoming union election that is coming up next week
Atunbi made this statement on saturday when campaigning and soliciting for votes from delegates in awka ,Anambra state council.
The national election will hold in Owerri Imo state capital next week Wednesday 27th day of November ,2024.
According to him ,his action plan for the next three years includes
” Premium to member’s welfare which involves media salary structure, continuation of insurance policy, maintaining NUJ safety fund, In line with UN’s treaty, our administration will collaborate with all relevant agencies on safety of journalists in nigeria, job Security.
“Our administration will stand tall against casualisation of workers in the media industry.
Quackery will not equally be tolerated.
“The NUJ as at today depends largely on other sources that are not sustainable, apart from widening the scope of funding for our great union, our administration will put a stop to the deductions of check off dues from members nationwide to another industrial union.
Education: To Improve the standard of International Institute of Journalism , Prioritizing training and retraining of members and encouraging media establishments to place premium on training and retraining of journalists.
Infrastructural development: Our administration will pursue with vigor infrastructural development at the national secretariat of our great union. Since administration is continuum, we shall give priority to the IIJ project and other infrastructural facilities.
Trade Unionism: Media related- our administration shall collaborate with all affiliates and media related associations like NGE, NPAN, NAWOJ, SWAN, etc to advocate and secure better welfare packages and conducive working environment for practitioners across the country.
Our administration will encourage NAWOJ, SWAN and sporting activities among Journalists all over the country. With this we intend to use sports as a unifying factor within our union.
Other unions: We shall equally collaborate with the NLC, TUC and all unions /associations that share our vision of better condition of service for an average nigerian worker to achieve optimal productivity in the labour force.
“I am a product of equity, and I will always uphold equity in the interest of NUJ and its members.
“If elected in all my programs i will use resource person from members of Nigeria union of Journalists )NUJ)because we have all it takes and it is cost effective to use the in house.
“Vote for a critical leader that will serve you , a leader that has the interest of the union at heart , a leader with a unified factor and I have made up my mind to advocate the mind of our members.
Earlier on , the state council Chairman, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD who welcomed him and his entourage also assured him that he will taking his message to other members
In closing remarks ,The zonal vice President Comrade Emmanuel Ifesinachi ,thanked the aspirant Comrade Dele Atunbi for taking the bull by the horn ,been the first to come and look for Anambra state council on his mission instead of waiting for us to come on election day.
