NUJ in Anambra partners Catholic Diocese of Nnewi to spread gospel, humanism

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, weekend, secured partnership with the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi for speedy promotion of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and societal goods.

The Bishop of the Dioecese, Most Rev. Dr. Jonas Benson Okoye, had during a courtesy calls to his office by the Executive of NUJ Anambra State Council, affirmed that the partnership would be of immense importance to the Diocese especially this period the State was facing security challenges.

Okoye, who said the Church was being affected badly by the insecurity, urged the media to assist the new administration of Governor Charles Soludo in appealing to agitators and occupants of forests to ceasefire and embrace amnesty for peace and progress of all..

He commended the governor for his tirelessly efforts to restore peace and order and uplift the state, and enjoined the populace to support the government in various possible ways to develop Anambra State.

Earlier, the Anambra State Council Chairman of NUJ, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, commended the Bishop for his recent election as Chief shepherd of the diocese after several years of serving Awka Diocese as an Auxiliary Bishop.

Odogwu, who prayed God to bless and direct the affairs of Bishop Okoye, recalled that the Bishop has been an advocate for youth development and urged him to sustain the tempo at his new Episcopal mission.

In a vote of thanks, the Assistant Secretary of the Council, Comrade Okechukwu Onuegbu, described the situation in Anambra State and Nigeria in general as pathetic, and prayed God to redeem the situation.
