NUJ Anambra State Council Unveils 2025 Press Week Schedule, Sets Theme on Election-Year Reportage
The Press Week is a revered tradition observed by journalists and media professionals — a moment that underscores the importance of journalism and the role of the press in shaping society. It promotes ethical journalism, professional development, and camaraderie among members through a blend of training sessions and recreational activities.
During the August 2025 Congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council, held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, Awka, the union formally announced the lineup of activities for the 2025 NUJ Man of the Year Award and Press Week, themed: “The Media and Our State Anambra: Reportage in Election Year.”
Wednesday, August 27, 2025, will feature indoor games, including Whot, Ncho, Skipping, Scrabble, Draft, Ludo, and Table Tennis. Interested members are encouraged to register with a token of ₦1,000, with exciting prizes awaiting participants and winners.
Also, on Wednesday, journalists will visit the Amawbia Correctional Centre to donate gift items to inmates — a gesture that reflects the union’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.
The grand finale will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Awka, beginning at 10 a.m.
The event will have the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo as Guest of Honour. It will be chaired by Chief Primus Odili (Oke Osisi Aguleri), while the Chief Host is the National President of NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya*. The *keynote address* will be delivered by the First Lady of Anambra State and Founder of Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, Dr. Nonye Soludo (Mmili guruegu)
