NSE Awka Branch Explores GIS and Survey Data for Smarter Engineering Decisions
The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Awka Branch, held its Monthly General Meeting on Saturday, with a technical session focused on the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and survey data into engineering practice.
Delivering the keynote lecture, Surv. Dr. C. U. Onwuzuligbo, National Internal Auditor of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, emphasized the role of geospatial tools in enhancing project planning, design, and execution, noting their impact on efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability.
Branch Chairman, Engr. MaryJane Oluchi Okoli, MNSE, commended the speaker and called for further practical sessions to help members strengthen their technical capacity in GIS applications.
The meeting also featured the presentation of the 2025 AGM and Election Report, where Engr. Okoli praised the electoral committee for a transparent process and congratulated newly elected executives. A fundraising drive for the branch’s Engineering Building Project was also conducted by Engr. Anaeto C.Y., FNSE.
