No Face Mask, No Work, Head of Service Tells Anambra Civil Servants

In line with the Anambra State Government’s directive to Ndi Anambra to ensure that they make use of face mask each time they have need to leave their homes, the Head of Service, Anambra State, Barr. Harry Udu, has mandated all public servants in the state to provide face masks for themselves or risk sanction.

Barr. Udu disclosed to Odogwublog that wearing of face mask was on of the preconditions for entry into any office, noting that no civil servant would be allowed to gain access to any government’s office unless they have their face masks on, stating that they were asked to get it as part of their contribution towards the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

According to the state Head of Service, a lot of necessary measures would be put in place before the resumption of work to ensure the safety of every Anambra worker, saying that he would not give any specific date when the workers would return to their duty posts, adding that it was the prerogative of the governor to make such declaration.

He stated that all political appointees had been charged to procure and made available at least two hundred pieces of face masks to their various communities, saying that Governor Willie Obiano led administration was working round the clock to ensure that every individual in the state had at least one face mask.

His words, ‘At our level, we have been mandated to make available 200 pieces of face masks to our communities. Government is serious about it. Every appointee must provide it for their people. It is a must.

‘All public servants are advised to provide face masks for themselves in preparation for the the expected reopening of offices and resumption of work. Please circulate and ensure compliance. Stay safe,’ Udu charged.

Odogwublog recalls that Governor Willie Obiano after his meeting last Monday with relevant stakeholders announced the reopening of all markets in the state, emphasizing that every market must set up committee that would see to the enforcement of government laid down precautionary measures against COVID-19, adding that civil servants would resume work anytime soon.
