1. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo their Certificates of Return.

The certificates were issued to them at the International Conference Centre, ICC, in Abuja by the Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu.

2. The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has rejected the presidential election result by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, where President Muhammadu Buhari was announced as the winner.

Atiku, in a statement on Wednesday, said he would not call Buhari to accept defeat because the presidential election was not free and fair as earlier promised by the electoral body.

3. The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris said the Federal Government on Wednesday shared N610.36 billion, generated in January to the three tiers of government.

Idris at a news conference at the end of the monthly Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), said approval was being awaited from the Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed for additional N50 billion from the Foreign Exchange Equalisation Account, which would be distributed accordingly.

4. The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has seized 12 landed properties belonging to a construction firm and its owner.

The Commission through its Public Relations Officer, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, said the property, which are located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja belonged to Mrs. Ochuko Momoh, Director, Blaid Construction Limited.

5. The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has warned Abuja residents to be considerate in their celebration of recent election victory.

Spokesman of the command, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, who gave the warning in a statement, said the residents should eschew any act that could infringe on the rights of other citizens.

6. Billionaire businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has significantly moved up in the world billionaires’ list, as he emerged 64th richest person in the world.

Bloomberg, in its annual list of wealthiest people, notes that Dangote now has an estimated networth of $16.6billion and has risen from his previous ranking of 103rd.

7. Chief bode George, a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has cautioned National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu against what he described as the harassment of Igbo residents in Lagos.

George said the action of the APC national leader could trigger a civil war.

8. Senator George Akume, has reportedly led APC youths in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, to destroy campaign billboards and posters of Governor Samuel Ortom and other Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidates in the State.

Terve Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, alleged that Akume, who lost his senatorial seat to Orker Jev of the Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday, was angry lawmaker and took to the streets with his boys, destroying billboards and posters of Ortom and other members of PDP.

9. The United Kingdom has reacted to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for a second term.

In a statement signed by the British Minister of State for Africa, Harriett Baldwin, and obtained by Odogwublog.com on Wednesday night, the UK government said the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been consistent with the result obtained through the civil society Parallel Vote Tabulation process.

10. President Muhammadu Buhari has commiserated with the families of the victims of the latest bandits’ attacks in Sokoto and the inter-communal conflict in Kaduna State.

Buhari warned that “mass murder of innocent people by criminals would be met with full force.”
