By Felix Igboanugo
The Executive Mayor of Anambra West Local Government Council, Hon. Edith Nkeiru Ndive, is set to commission the one-kilometre Nzam–Odeotamaka Road project on October 1, as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
The commissioning ceremony is expected to attract residents, traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders and other invited guests from within and outside the local government area. The road project is aimed at improving connectivity and facilitating the movement of people, goods and services between communities within the area.
According to information released by the Mayor’s Media Office on Sept. 29 and made available to journalists, the ceremony will commence in the morning at the Local Government Secretariat, Nzam.
The event will also feature the 2026 Independence Day March Past, providing an opportunity for residents and stakeholders to join in commemorating Nigeria’s 66 years of independence.
The council administration said the project reflects its commitment to grassroots infrastructure development and the implementation of projects designed to improve the daily lives of residents of Anambra West.
According to the council, the road commissioning forms part of the dividends of democracy being delivered under its Solution Agenda, with emphasis on practical development at the local level.
The Independence celebration will therefore combine national reflection with the commissioning of a local infrastructure project, as residents of Anambra West join Nigerians across the country to mark the 66th Independence Anniversary.
The council has invited residents of Anambra West and other stakeholders to participate in the event and witness the formal commissioning of the Nzam–Odeotamaka Road project.
