Nigeria to miss late South Africa’s Zulu King – Envoy

Mr Malik Abdul, Consul-General of Nigeria, Johannesburg, South Africa, has said that Nigerians in the country would miss the late King Goodwill KaBhekuzulu who died on March 12.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wife of the King, Queen Mantfombi Zulu, also died on April 29, shortly after her husband’s death.

The Consul-General stated this when he paid a condolence visit to the families of the two deceased on Friday in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal, according to a statement on Saturday by Mr Samuel Udom.

Avdul said that Nigeria and the Zulu nation would miss the peaceful disposition of the late King.

“The Zulu nation, South Africa, and Africa as a whole will miss the late king’s contribution in fostering peace, unity, development and projecting the culture of the Zulu people.

“This visit is in solidarity with the government and people of South Africa over the death of this illustrious leader and also part of our promotion of friendly relations and people-to-people interaction,” he said.

The visit of the Consul-General was facilitated by the Nigerian Citizens Association in South Africa (NICASA), Durban branch, led by Bartholomew Eziagulu.

The team was received by Queen Zungu, Princess Nomkhosi, Prince Bambi, Dr Khumalo and other members of the family.

The Consul General consoled the King’s Royal Council, the Zulu nation and the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government, and prayed for the repose of the departed souls. (NAN)
