Nigeria Requires $19 Million to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases, Says FG
The Nigerian government has highlighted the need for $19 million to effectively tackle neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in the country. Fatai Oyediran, the National Coordinator for NTDs at the Federal Ministry of Health, emphasized that with adequate investment and collaboration, these diseases can be controlled and eradicated. The call for funding comes as part of the country’s NTD master plan, which aims to address the issue from 2023 to 2027. Nigeria contributes significantly to the global NTD burden, affecting millions, and Oyediran urged both federal and state governments to prioritize funding and resources to combat the diseases.
