1. A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu, Tuesday, sacked Prince Lawrence Eze, as the Enugu East Senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The court presided over by Justice Ibrahim Buba held that Eze was not the validly nominated candidate of the party, adding that it was a case of ‘monkey dey work, baboon dey chop.’
2. The Oyo State chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has suspended a son of the former governor of Oyo state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, Mr. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala.
Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Dr. Abdulazeez Olatunde, who confirmed the suspension of the son of the ex-governor, added that the party took the right decision by suspending Alao-Akala because he has dumped the APC to join ADP.
3. The Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Amb. Michael Abikoye, has protested the inhuman treatment of Nigerians by the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) with the deportation of 723 Nigerians between 2018 and 2019.
The High Commissioner said that 723 Nigerians were deported on alleged illegal stay, cybercrime and prostitution between the January 2018 and January 2019.
4. There was pandemonium at the distribution of the Federal Government’s ‘Trader Moni’ loan on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun, as some hoodlums reportedly stormed the Lafenwa Market, venue of the programme, to disrupt it.
The hoodlums suspected to be political thugs invaded the market and whisked away the market’s woman leader to an unknown place after dispersing the traders.
5. Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno State said he would be going back to Gamboru Ngala next week.
He dared the sect to shoot him and that he will be traveling in a non-bullet proof vehicle despite the recent attack on his convoy by members of Boko Haram’s Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) faction.
6. Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, said the real reason President Muhammadu Buhari met Governors of Borno, Adamawa and Kaduna States, was to intimate them of an alleged plan to postpone elections in their states.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) led-government was trying to get the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to carry out the plot.
7. The Nigerian Army has rescued 14 children between the ages of three and 13 from traffickers.
Their traffickers, including two females, Evelyn Jerry, 27 and Stephen Rebecca 30 as well as Mr. Richard Patrick, 38, were arrested and handed to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
8. The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Tuesday said that the death toll in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state has risen to 130 persons.
El-Rufai, while addressing State House correspondents after a meeting with some northern governors, President Buhari and service chiefs, said that based on the security briefings he received, the actual number of those killed was 130 and not 66.
9. A suicide bomber identified as Goni Modu, who sneaked into Bakassi IDP Camp, was nabbed on Monday by men of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and handed over to security forces in Borno State.
Also apprehended were two insurgents, who disguised to be mentally derailed on hostile surveillance in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital.
10. The Olowu of Owu-Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude Makama, has commended the Nigerian Army for its role in the fight against insurgents and armed banditry across the country.
He also called for peaceful elections, appealing to political parties, candidates and their supporters to shun violence.
