1. The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has suspended the Chairman of its Ikorodu branch, Mr. Bayo Akinlade, over alleged insubordination.

The suspension was executed on Thursday at the ongoing NBA-NEC meeting in Abuja.

2. The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday, upheld the victory of Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in last year’s governorship election held in Ekiti State.

A three-man panel of the court dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the election, Kolapo Olusola, for lack of merit.

3. The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government not to increase the value added tax (VAT).

Tinubu, while speaking at the colloquium held in commemoration of his 67th birthday on Thursday in Abuja, said increasing VAT was tantamount to reducing the purchasing power of the people.

4. The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress, APC, have appealed the Election Tribunal judgement that declared Ademola Adeleke winner of the 2018 governorship election in the state.

Oyetola asked the Court of Appeal in Abuja to reverse the majority judgment delivered last Friday by the tribunal.

5. An Abuja division of the Federal High Court has ordered the arrest of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Justice Binta Nyako-led court, who gave the order while deploring the continued absence of Kanu from court, also revoked the bail she granted Kanu in 2017, and directed that the proceedings of the trial will still continue even in the IPOB leader’s absence.

6. Rt Hon Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared winner of the Adamawa State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission so ion (INEC).

Fintiri polled a total of 376,552 votes from the main election on March 9 and the supplementary election of March 28 to beat his closest rival, Governor Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got a total of 336,386 votes from both elections.

7. Security forces in Chibok local government area of Borno State, northeast Nigeria have repelled an attack in Gatamwarwa village.

A security source told Odogwublog.com that the militants burnt some houses in the village.

8. Tanko Yakasai, elder statesman and political adviser in the second Republic, has claimed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) might field Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo or a National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in 2023.

Yakasai said it was because the region played a key role in the emergence of Buhari in 2019, adding that the South-East don’t stand a chance of getting the ticket.

9. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday cleared air on its decision to withhold certificate of return from Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo and three others.

Mr. Festus Okoye, INEC National Electoral Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, said the decision “does not amount to shifting goal post at the middle of a match.”

10. Manchester United have finally appointed caretaker coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the club’s new permanent manager.

The Old Trafford club made the announcement through the club’s official Twitter page yesterday being Thursday.
