New army commander appointed for Onitsha military cantonment as mayor Onitsha north LGA commend Nigeria military on fight on insecurity

The Nigeria army has appointed a new commander Col. M.B Yakubu for the Onitsha military cantontment to replaced the former commander Col. Ak. Mohammed who has been sent for further military course in Pakistan.
Speaking during a brief hand over ceremony held recently at the cantonment officers mess, army barrack.onitsha, Hon. Anthony Nworah the mayor of Onitsha North LGA who was the chief guest of honor during the occasion while commending the outgoing commander col.Ak Mohammed for a job well done and for maintaining a cordial relationship with his local government to ensure peace in Onitsha during his tenure, urged the incoming commander to follow the footsteps of his predecessor by working hard to live up to expectation stressing that the local government is ever ready to co-operate with him for him to succeed.
Commenting on the general assessment of Nigeria military performances as it concerned tackling of insecurity in the entire country, he extoled Nigeria military efforts on tackling of insecurity in the country adding that he is particularly giving kudos to the Onitsha military cantonment on their impactful efforts to maintain security not only in Onitsha but in the entire anambra state.
said he, ”I want to say that the military in Onitsha is doing marvelous well not only in Onitsha but rather in the entire state, my local government will continue partnering with them, we are eager to develop a formidable synergy with them to further boost security in Onitsha,my door is open for them.”
Earlier the outgoing commander, Col. AK Mohammed also while introducing his successor as a well-bred officer who knows his job assured that he had no doubt in his mind that the officer will excel in his new position and appealed to all officers in the cantonment to cooperate with his successor for him to succeed .
Speaking also to newsmen immediately after the program,Hon Chiejina Obieze Gov. Soludo senior special assistant on security told newsmen that the state government is very happy with activities of the army in Onitsha which he noted has been contributing imensely to maintainance of adequate security in the state.he commended the outgoing officer for his leadership efforts that has given the cantonment a good name,he urged the new commander to live up to the expectation pointing out that the people of the state are wishing well for him to succeed
Said he , Gov Soludo is happy with activities of Nigeria military,in the entire anambra state,I will say that the outgoing officer did very well,am also calling the new officer to live up to expectation,
