NDLEA Arrests Notorious Drug Kingpin, Intercepts N7.8bn Opioids in Rivers

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 36-year-old drug kingpin, Sunday Ibigide, in Asaba, Delta State, three years after he went underground. Ibigide was caught with 250 blocks of skunk weighing 138kg alongside his aide, Clement Osuya.

In a nationwide crackdown between August 10–16, NDLEA operatives seized massive consignments of narcotics, including 875,000 bottles of codeine syrup and 3.5m pills of opioids worth N7.8bn at Onne Port, Rivers State.

Other highlights:

  • 48,750kg of cannabis farms destroyed in Enugu and Taraba forests.
  • 538,980 pills of tramadol** recovered in Gombe, Kogi, Kaduna, and Taraba.
  • 149kg cannabis seized in Lagos; woman and son arrested.
  • Major arrests in Enugu, Kano, Edo, and Badagry with large hauls of skunk, tramadol, ketamine, and other drugs.
