NDA-Militants Attack Newly Constructed Ship Facility In Akwa Ibom State.

A newly constructed shipbuilding facility in Akwa Ibom state, Norfin offshore shipyard has come under heavy attack from militants residing in the creeks around the niger delta.
The facility situated at Ikot Ukpong in Oruk Anam LGA of Akwa Ibom State suffered losses and destruction as the daredevil militants attacked in the wee hours of the morning.
They shot sporadically into the air and scared of the security men attached to the company.
They went ahead to set off the explosives they came with in some strategic locations in the facility compound setting off a series of destructions in their path.
While explaining the situation, the Chairman of the ship construction firm – Norfin Offshore shipyard Ltd, Engr. Iniekong Charles Udonwa cried out on the level of damage done to the facility.
According to him, he stated that most of the militants came in from far away Ogoni in Rives state.
The attacks left staff scampering for safety while some bullet holes were seen on the walls of the building as a testament to the horror
The chairman of the facility also added that during the attack, the militants kept telling the company staff to tell the Akwa Ibom state government to reach out to them since the company location was under their territory and surveillance.
He was asked to pay N20million before he can set up the facility but he lamented that over N60million had been lost to the daredevil militants in the attacks Odogwublog.com
Recall some days ago, pictures of a 9meter MV Swift Security vessel was seen on social media as their first constructed product that was scheduled to be launched this weekend, this incident has shifted the launch to January 30, 2021.
He also called on the state government to provide adequate security to the facility and try as much as possible to stop further occurrence of such nature as this will discourage other investors who may wish to come and invest in the state
