Nnadike further stated that the dissolution was in line with the association’s constitution which, according to him, which stipulates a three-year tenure, renewable for a second tenure. He said the second tenure ought to have been ended with an election next month but that this could not due hold due to the situation of the country.

“We are preparing for an election but the environment is not safe anymore. The election was scheduled to hold next November but it has been shifted indefinitely due to the recent crisis. I’m appointing a three-man executive committee to take over until there is an election. The election will come in a few months’ time but, before then, we deemed it fit to appoint a caretaker committee that will take charge of Awka North and Awka South as from today with immediate effect.”

He assured that the association will soon commence building of her PTA office in Awka to help facilitate activities of the association in the state.

While extolling the past executive councils, Chief Nnadike challenged the new team to out- perform their predecessors who used their various offices to ensure that the goal of the association was achieved.

Meanwhile, the incoming interim chairman, Emmanuel Nwankwo, assured that he would carry everyone along in the discharge of his duties even as he promised to do everything within his power to ensure that the association moved forward within the space of time given to him.
