NAFDAC has cautioned the public against a viral video by influencer VeryDarkMan (Martins Otse), describing it as potentially inciting and possibly breaching the Cybercrime Act. The video accused the agency of demanding N700,000 from shop owners at Onitsha’s Bridge Head Market.

NAFDAC defended its enforcement operations, which targeted fake, banned, and substandard drugs, and said over 2,500 compliant traders have resumed operations since March 9. It also noted that remaining sealed shops are linked to banned narcotics and vowed continued prosecution of offenders.
