All hope is not lost for the exited batch B volunteers of the Federal Government N-power programme as the Chairperson of the Vocal Persons of the National Investment Programme(NSIP) has given assurance on the readiness of the office of the Accountant General of the Federation(AGF) to pay the July stipend and backlogs to volunteers.

The Chairperson stated that the July stipend for batch B volunteers and the backlogs of the over 14,000 affected volunteers will be paid soon.

She noted that the delay so far experienced was as a result of the loopholes in the GIFMIS system which outrightly rejected the information of over 14,000 genuine volunteers. Hence, the Accountant General kept the July payment pending until the system is corrected for all to be paid at the same time to avoid repeated payment rejection.

She however assured that the issue has been rectified. Hence payment will be made soon.

The Chairperson disclosed this from the information issued yesterday by Nneka Ikem Anibeze, the newly appointed Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Honorable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq in a report on the National Food Security Council meeting supervised by Honorable Minister Sadiya Umar Farouq.

“The last lap of stipend disbursement to exited volunteers of the Federal Government N-power scheme will be made soon. We have made concerted effort to pay the last lap of the N-power enrollees before the commencement the next stage of the programme”.

Remember that the exited Batch B volunteers of the N-power programme were not paid their July (and Last) stipend before they were exited from the programme despite the claims by the minister that she had approved and forwarded the stipend to the office of the Accountant General of the Federation for payment since last month, August.

However, if we should go by the words of the Chairperson of the Vocal Persons, we can say that all hope is not lost for the exited batch B volunteers and other volunteers whose stipends had not not been paid for over five (5) months.
