WHAT NEWS? Professor Chukwuma Soludo CFR, Anambra State gubernatorial hopeful recently granted interview to Channels TV where he discussed the recent attack that took place at his town, Isuofia Civic Center in Aguata LGA, during his town hall interactive section with youths and stakeholders of the community on Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

Though we can’t pre-judge the attack on whether it’s targeted at the Isuofia man or not. According to a news report, the incident untimely ended the lives of three (3) of his security aides, while the Anambra State Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr. Emeka Ezenwanne was reportedly kidnapped in the process and others sustained various degree of injuries.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, on hearing the sad news, ordered the launch of immediate investigation which has prompted the police operatives attached to Anambra State Command to have arrested five (5) suspects in connection to the attack.

On Engr. Ezenwanne, the command said it is working assiduously to rescue him. All hands are on deck!

In UNIONISM, the world has risen to condenm the recent attack on Prof Soludo, the continous attack and gruesome murder of our region’s security personnel. It’s time for South East stakeholders to rise to the occasion, not only to secure our land, but to also take it back. Like my friend Elvis aptly said, “politicians like Prof. Chukwuma Soludo are the finest brains in Igboland. His participation in politics indicates a departure from the era of thugs and conmen in leadership. First, was an attack on PDP’s Chief Valentine Chineto Ozigbo. Now, Chukwuma Soludo. All distinguished global business leaders and technocrats.”

The above is not debatable. Our region will not be handed back to marauders. We will fight back. It is necessary to note that Soludo on Channels TV interview first and foremost sent his condolences to the beloved families of the deceased policemen and prayed for the repose of their souls, and on the kidnapped Engr. Emeka; he said his prayers for him and wished him quick return/rescue and for the State Government and Security Operatives; he commended them on their timely, thorough and comprehensive response.

At a time when the state political space is heat-up unnecessarily with the aid of cordinated social media attacks/calumny and when some sections of the media have conjured false political theory on Soludo and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, since it’s clear he is favorite to succeed the incumbent governor, the man Soludo was on Channels TV to protect the image of Anambra and ndi-Anambra, by reminding the world that the recent attack was totally not the ANAMBRA WAY.

Soludo was on Channels TV not to seize up the opportunity to state that the attack was categorically targeted at him, the renowned economist knowing fully well he could generate sympathy rather maintained that the upcoming election doesn’t worth bloodshed, maiming and destruction of state properties. It is regretable that some section of the social media have continued to fuel their own political theory even when the “attacked” has refused to pre-judge on whether it is politically motivated or not.

Let me concur to the words of my friend that the recent developments are repugnant and the motive of the attackers may have been to force Soludo and his campaign to halt thereby conferring mileage on others. Strategically, it is important that Prof Soludo must rise above the development, increase the tempo of his campaign while supporting security agents to intensify their hunt for the culprits, hence, the summary of his CHANNELS TV OUTING.

Unlike others who have taken to bigger platforms to express their views, Soludo has the right to appear on Channels TV to express his, to increase the vibrancy in his campaign.

Our heart goes out to security aides that lost their lives and to those who sustained injuries and Engr Emeka who was kidnapped.

I urge ndi-Anambra to rise on this occasion, to be resilient and ensure that His Excellency, Chief (Dr) Willie M. Obiano ends his tenure stronger.

I condemn in totality the targeted and recent attacks on our security structures, the recent attack on the gubernatorial hopeful; Professor Chukwuma Soludo (CFR) in his Isuofia town.

I pray the souls of the officers and innocent citizens who lost their lives in the various nefarious attacks across our region be repose in the Lord, Amen.
