Motion On The Completion Of Federal Health Centers At Okpeze & Enugu-Umuonyia

In my usual way of voicing out for my constituents, and making sure that their immediate needs are attended to, today at the floor of Green Chamber, I moved a motion for the need to complete the construction of the Federal Health Centres at Okpeze and Enugwu-Umuonyia Communities in Orumba North and South Local Government Areas respectively.
Like the popular saying goes, “Health is wealth and a healthy nation is a wealthy Nation”, access to medical facility is of utmost importance to all and sundry.
The contract for construction of these health centres were awarded over a decade ago and are yet to be fully constructed and equipped thereby hindering the people from having access to quality health care delivery services and in turn has led to the death of many people as no other health centre is close to them.
What gives me serious concern is that pregnant women deliver on their way to access health care services from neighbouring communities miles apart which is very hazardous and should not be heard of in this 21st Century!
This challenging factor is very worrisome to me and as such, if these facilities are not put in place, the efforts by Federal Government to provide Primary Health Care Services will be fruitless and the inhabitants will continue to suffer perpetually because of that.
The abandoned project which were left in Carcass also serves as a hideout to hoodlums and increasing the rate of crime in these communities.
Therefore, I appealed to the house to mandate the Committee on Health Institutions, Healthcare services, and Rural Development to investigate the matter and report back within four weeks for further legislative actions.
With this, we will make sure that the needed attention is being given to ensure that adequate Healthcare facilities are situated at the said locations, thereby ensuring that the sick and pregnant ones are given proper medical attention.
Be rest assured that I will not relent until this project is achieved and my people given what they deserved.
