Members of Ocha Brigade charged to maintain discipline, discharge duties with diligence

The Onitsha unit coordinator of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra ( Ocha Brigade), Mr. Ejike Odife has charged men of Ocha Brigade agency to maintain discipline and discharge their duties diligently without fear or favour.

Mr. Odife who is coordinating Borromeo round about, Upper Iweka axis, Niger Bridge Head, Ogbaru Local Government and Owerri Road issued the charge  during the weekly parades of the agency in Onitsha.

Speaking shortly after the parade, Mr. Odife said that he was impressed by the parade and performances of the caliber of men in his unit, describing Ocha Brigade as a paramilitary agency which needs high levels of discipline.

He, therefore, noted that as agency in charge of clamping down defaulters of environmental law, it is pertinent mainly for the field staff to be well updated on the dos and don’ts involved in their duties, stressing that they are dealing with human beings not animals.

He said, ” The essence of the parade is to lecture and educate our staff on how to handle human beings as well as inculcate discipline in them. So, we choose to have our parade usually every Monday sit-at-home to enable all our men to participate. We lecture them dos and don’ts involved in the agency because without lecture, some of them would misbehave. But, once they are trained and keep abreast of their duties, they would perform well as well as serve the public better” 

The coordinator further hinted that apart from discipline and dos and don’ts in the agency, parade also enhance physical fitness and provide body exercise which he said improves mental and healthy being of his men.

He praised his staff for their high level of professionalism in their duties, attributing it to lectures they receives before moving into the field. ” At least, they would be able to understand that defaulters are human beings like them not animals. So, far I must commend them and I will award them 80% of performance.  Although, there must be bad eggs in every profession. In Ocha brigade, when we sport bad eggs, we warn them, but if they don’t repent, we dismiss  them”

Mr. Odife used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Soludo in his recent celebrated birthday, praying God to grant him long life and good health, just as he explained that Professor Soludo within two years in office has performed more than any other Governors across the country.

He equally eulogized the State Director of Ocha Brigade, Chief Celestine Anere who he described as a great man and no nonsense fellow, disclosing that since he took over mantle of leadership, he has transformed the agency by introducing new innovations.

He also added that Chief Anere through his dynamic leadership attracted vehicles for the agency which he said made their work very easy, praying God to bless Chief Anere and grant him long life and good health.
