A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 22-year-old mechanic, Samuel Luper, in a correctional centre for allegedly robbing one Cyprian Audu of a new brand of TVS motorcycle. Luper, who lives Opposite Shaman Plaza, Welfare Quarters in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue, was charged with criminal conspiracy and robbery. However, the Magistrate, Mrs Ada Jack, did not take his plea for the lack of jurisdiction. Jack adjourned the matter to October 10 for further mention. Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp. James Ewaoche, told the court that the case was received at the State CID, Makurdi on August 7, via a signal dated same day from Operation Zenda Joint Task Force (JTF).

Ewaoche said the signal stated that on Aug 7, the JTF, led by Insp. Abah Joseph, arrested the defendant, following Audu’s report. Audu was said to have reported that some hoodlums invaded his house and stole his brand new black-colour TVS motorcycle, valued at N600,000. The victim further told the police that he identified the defendant as one of the persons that robbed him. Ewaoche said that the defendant was arrested during police investigation and that others were still at large.
